what are the benefits of making homemade baby food?how do i learn?
Baby Guru has two different Baby Chef with Aloha workshops; one for purées to introduce solids to the infant aged 4-6 months and the other for more textured, complex mashes for the baby aged 6-12 months, plus a few finger foods for the next step. We encourage parents to check with their pediatrician for their recommendation on when your baby is ready for each stage of foods.
In the Introduction workshop, a Baby Guru instructor will give you an overview of baby's first foods, the transitions of trying new foods, how much food your baby needs and some tips on feeding your baby. In addition, your Baby Guru instructor will discuss food and kitchen safety.
The main portion of both workshops will be the instructor and/or a local celebrity chef teaching you how to prepare some easy, simple baby foods using fresh (organic when possible) produce from cooking it to puréeing it to storing it safely. The Advanced workshop will also demonstrate one or two meals for the baby transitioning to finger foods. Parents will get an opportunity to participate in the cooking or can simply observe. Parents will leave with a packet of recipes, fresh baby food and a baby food storage tray.
We recommend parents take the Intro course before their infant starts eating solid foods. However, parents can sign up anytime. We also encourage parents to take the Intro class before the Advanced one so you are already comfortable feeding your baby solid foods and making homemade baby food. We suggest you leave your sweet peas at home if you plan on participating in the cooking workshop; however, if you prefer to observe rather than participate in the food preparation, then feel free to bring your baby.
Additionally, we will be offering a Mommy’s Night Out, which will combine the Advanced Workshop with the welcome addition of refreshments and pupus by the Celebrity Chef instructor! Learn and play at the same time!
Intro private in-home classes and group workshops are both one (1) 90-minute session. Advanced private in-home classes and group workshops are both one (1) 2-hour session. Mommy’s Night Outs are one (1) 3-hour event.
