what are the benefits?
The Infant/Child CPR & First Aid workshop prepares parents to provide immediate emergency attention to an injured, sick or choking infant or child prior to the arrival of paramedics, if needed. The CPR portion of this course covers basic infant and child rescue breathing, CPR and airway obstruction skills. The session also prepares parents on how to respond to common household accidents, head injuries, seizures, burns, poisonings and other potential first aid needs. As a Baby Guru consultant, your instructor will also give you an overview of accident prevention and examples of childproofing measures you can take.
Parents will learn from an instructor certified in Infant/Child/Adult CPR & First Aid. This class is an overview of CPR & First Aid to prepare parents and give them peace of mind that they can help their child in case of unforeseen emergencies. This is not a certification course.
how do i learn?
In this workshop, parents will observe an instructor use a baby-size mannequin to demonstrate and explain how to perform the techniques. Parents will practice each step of every technique on their own baby mannequins. Practicing each step yourself with an experienced instructor to guide you will ultimately give you the knowledge and confidence to perform the techniques calmly and correctly in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Parents will receive instruction materials to take home.
We recommend parents take this course before they have their baby so they can be fully prepared, but parents can sign up anytime. We ask that you leave your sweet peas at home during this workshop so you can be completely focused on learning the techniques. However, you might invite babysitters, grandparents or anyone else who cares for your baby to take this course with you.
Class is one (1) 2-hour session, whether private or group workshops. A 1-hour abbreviated private review workshop is available for those who have already taken a course, but need to refresh their skills.
